One Man Show Vol. III – Symposium Split 2025: Reflections on Innovation and Collaboration in Pain Medicine
The third edition of One Man Show was shaped less by the format of a conventional conference and more by the spirit of a collaborative think tank—founded on mutual respect, shared knowledge, and a unified commitment to advancing patient care globally.
Spearheaded by Dr. Robert Rapcan, MD, FIPP, MBA, PhD, the symposium exemplified his vision for ethical, innovative, and accessible medical education. His leadership cultivated an environment where multidisciplinary expertise could thrive.
A notable highlight was the active participation of members of the Czech and Slovak Section of the World Institute of Pain, who made significant contributions by sharing their clinical experience and scientific insights. Their engagement not only enriched the educational content but also reinforced the value of cross-border collaboration in interventional pain management.
From Vision to Reality: Regenerative Medicine in Pain Treatment
The core focus of the symposium was to critically explore the evolving role of regenerative medicine in the management of chronic pain. Over the course of four intensive days, the program featured scientific lectures and practical workshops dedicated to emerging modalities including platelet-rich plasma (PRP), stem cell therapies, and biologic innovations.
In addition to presenting current evidence and research findings, speakers emphasized translational pathways from bench to bedside—highlighting regenerative interventions’ clinical relevance and growing impact on patient outcomes.
Importantly, members of the Czech and Slovak Section of the World Institute of Pain made significant contributions to this dialogue, actively participating in lectures, discussions, and procedural workshops. Their expertise enriched the academic environment and underlined the importance of regional leadership within the broader international framework.
Keynote Experience – Dr. Peter S. Staats: Merging Science and Humanity
The keynote address by Dr. Peter S. Staats, MD, MBA, FIPP, ABIPP, provided both intellectual depth and emotional resonance. Reflecting on his personal journey as a physician and researcher, Dr. Staats bridged the human and scientific dimensions of medicine in a talk that culminated in an inspiring overview of bioelectricity as a transformative frontier in chronic pain management.
His address sparked dynamic conversation across sessions, embodying the symposium’s ethos: that clinical excellence thrives where scientific innovation and personal purpose intersect.
Spotlight on Innovation: Highlights from the Scientific Program
A diverse lineup of renowned international speakers presented cutting-edge insights across a wide range of regenerative and interventional topics:
- Dr. Dzihan Abazovic: Cell Therapy in Osteoarthritis – a translational overview from laboratory to clinic.
- Dr. Sukdeb Datta: Endoscopic Procedures in Pain Management – showcasing the efficacy of minimally invasive interventions.
- Dr. Sudhir Diwan: Subchondral Application of Stem Cells – addressing challenges in degenerative joint disorders.
- Dr. Ashish Shetty: Restorative Neuromodulation – mechanisms and clinical outcomes in functional restoration.
- Dr. Victor Fontes Pacheco: Stem Cells for Spinal Cord Injuries – current trials and clinical challenges.
- Dr. Jose De Andres: Closed-Loop Neuromodulation Systems – adaptive technologies in real-time modulation.
- Dr. Danielle Kohr: Extraforaminal Neurostimulation – expanding neuromodulation’s reach for neuropathic pain.
- Prof. dr. sc. Željana Bašić, PhD & Asst. prof. Ivan Jerković, PhD: Applied Imagination – AI in Scientific Discovery – interdisciplinary perspectives on AI’s role in creativity and medical research.
- Dr. Robert Rapcan: PRP and Stem Cells in Annulus Fibrosus Rupture Post-Endoscopic Discectomy – blending clinical evidence with procedural insight.
Each presentation was followed by dynamic Q&A sessions, underscoring not only scientific depth but also the ethical and practical considerations central to the field’s advancement.
An Academic Community of Excellence
The symposium’s invitation-only format fostered a focused and collegial atmosphere, encouraging candid exchange among participants. For many, One Man Show felt less like a traditional conference and more like a collaborative think tank, defined by mutual respect, scientific curiosity, and shared commitment to enhancing global standards of care.
Led by Dr. Robert Rapcan, MD, FIPP, MBA, PhD, the event was a direct expression of his enduring vision: an educational platform that is ethical, innovative, and accessible.
Practical Training and Technological Leadership
A hallmark of the event was its hands-on component. Participants took part in interactive workshops featuring state-of-the-art equipment provided by valued partners: EuroPainClinics, Lumibird – Interventional Imaging, MaxMoreSpine, and DMS – Dynamic Medical Solutions. These sessions allowed clinicians to refine techniques and directly apply emerging concepts to real-world procedural contexts.
